- The Step Wedge itself measures 12 inches tall and 1 inch thick and incorporates a unique stepped profile at the bottom of the wedge. By creating a concentrated pressure point, the step initiates a crack in the log early in the splitting process, allowing the wood fibers to begin separating before the full wedge surface enters the log.
